Resources

Welcome to our comprehensive as we can make it list of the very best WordPress resources out there right now. And be sure to check out our dedicated pages for WordPress hosting and WordPress theme shops.

I’ve cobbled together a few sites in my day. And I’ve certainly written about WordPress (some might say exhaustively so). So it make sense that I’ve come across some nifty resources that make the process of building a site easier. I’m talking about those why-didn’t-I-think-of-that time saver sort of resources that make building sites a breeze rather than a chore.

I’ve broken down this resource list into a few broad categories. And hey, if there’s a tool or resource you think should be included in the list, drop me a line. If it’s awesome, I’d love to know about it and include it.

Theme Developers

We’ve got a whole section dedicated to the different theme shops out there right now but I felt it important to highlight a few that I keep coming back to time and time again. These developers have truly anticipated the needs of people who build sites on a regular basis.

Array Themes – I’ve got to start here because this site runs on Paperback. This theme is awesome and the people behind it are awesome, too. The theme itself is lightweight, flexible, and infinitely functional. You don’t have to do much to get it up and running, which is great if you’re not down for diving into code.

Elegant Themes – A solid choice, always. Their themes package is reasonably priced and you get access to a whole host of awesome stuff, including Divi, Extra, and a slew of other themes which are just plain cool.

WordPress Blogs

WPMU DEV Blog – Yes, I write there. Yes, I’m totally biased. But the content is always solid and the crew is supportive and fantastic.

WP Shout – The content here is always original and interesting. Read it and read it often.

Nimbus Themes – Excellent theme collections here on the daily. Check it out!

Social Media

Canva – OMG what would I do without Canva? Graphic designer, I am not, so when this tool came along, I bookmarked it quick. You can use it to create stunning social media, blog, and promotional graphics with mere minutes. You seriously have no excuses not to include images in your tweets and Facebook posts now thanks to this. I’m not even exaggerating.

Buffer – Create and schedule social posts on the fly. Get excellent analytics, too. Buffer has made my social media life a million times easier and that’s not an exaggeration.

IFTTT – Create “recipes” to post (and cross-post) your content on social media. For instance, you can make it so when a blog post it published, you automatically share it on Twitter and Facebook. Or you can automatically share the post’s featured image to a designated board on Pinterest. Once set up, it’s a huge time saver.

Helpful Tools

WP Clipboard – A clipboard-style collection of every resource under the same related to WordPress. I’ve yet to sort through all of it, but it definitely seems promising!

WP Theme Detector – It’s always useful to know what WordPress theme a site is running and this tool can show you.

What WordPress Theme Is That? – Does the same as the above with a different interface. I’ve included them both because you get slight different info from each.

These are just a few resources off the top of my head. More to come soon. And feel free to drop us a line to share your favorite, too.
